Volunteering with Friends' recreation and stewardship programs is a great way to enjoy the Columbia Gorge. Taking action to advocate for the Gorge by writing letters, attending hearings, and educating the public is a vital component of Gorge protection. There are also ways you can help in our office. The important thing is to GET INVOLVED!

Volunteer with Friends

Friends' volunteers lead hikes, assist with research, attend public hearings, contact elected officials, educate the public, restore native habitat, provide office support, and more. We'd love to have your help!

Come take a Hike

The beautiful Columbia Gorge is home to over 800 species of flowering plants, fifteen of which are found nowhere else in the world. Volunteer naturalists and wildflower experts have been leading Friends' Hiking Program for over 20 years.

Take Action on Important Issues

One of the most effective ways to ensure Gorge protection is through direct action by activists like you.  We can work hard to influence decision makers, but it is much more powerful when decision makers hear from their constituents, whether through letters, through testimony at a hearing, or by reading a letter to the editor in your local paper.  Please visit our Take Action page to see what issues need your attention and how you can help.

Stewardship and Restoration Projects

Friends of the Columbia Gorge participates in many different stewardship projects throughout the Gorge. For upcoming work parties please contact Renee Tkach at 503-241-3761 ext 103 or renee@gorgefriends.org.
