Strenuous: 6.9 miles, 2820-ft. elev. gain

Tackle this world-famous Gorge destination with veteran Friends’ hike leader Dick Vetter. Blankets of yellow balsamroot, red paintbrush and blue lupine and panoramic vistas make the climb well worth the effort.

 

First Meeting Place: Depart 8:00 AM from Gateway.

Second Meeting Place: 9:15 AM at Dog Mt. Trailhead (Take I-84 east to Cascade Locks Exit 44 and cross Bridge of the Gods to WA SR-14, turn right and continue east for 12 miles. Trailhead is on the left between MP 53 and 54; $5 trailhead fee or NW Forest Pass required).
