Friends hike leader Karl Kratzer leads this weekday hike during the peak wildflower season. Cascading carpets of brilliant balsamroot, Indian paintbrush, and lupine frame incomparable Gorge views.
First Meeting Place: Depart 8:00 AM from Lewis and Clark State Park. (Take I-84 to Exit 18 Lewis and Clark State Park; turn south, continue .25 mile to paved parking on left.)
Second Meeting Place: 8:45 AM at Dog Mountain Trailhead. (Take I-84 east to Exit 44 Cascade Locks. Cross Bridge of the Gods to WA SR-14, turn right and continue east for 12 miles. Trailhead is on the left between MP 53 and MP 54; $5 parking or NW Forest Pass required.)
