Help Care for the Cape Horn Trail!
Volunteers wanted to help maintain the Cape Horn Trail
Thursday July
1st
8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Register at: http://www.wta.org/volunteer/trail-work-parties
This
work party hosted by the Washington Trails Association will care for the lower
section of the Cape Horn trail, which has been closed all winter for the
peregrine falcon nesting season. July 1st marks the official opening of the
lower trail, allowing hikers to enjoy the full 8-mile loop. However, the trail is
in need of some "spring cleaning" to brush back vegetation, clear downed logs,
and sweep aside rocks and debris that have fallen into the trail.
WTA
provides tools and instruction; no prior trail work experience is necessary. Soda and cookies are provided and volunteers will earn a NW Forest Day pass.
This
event is free, registration required. For more info or to register by phone
contact Ryan Ojerio at (360) 722-2657 or email ryan@wta.org.
