Urban Sprawl in the Gorge? Help protect the scenic beauty of the Gorge by containing urban growth

By encouraging density rather than sprawl, the current Congressionally designated urban boundaries protect farmland, forest lands and the natural, scenic, cultural and recreational resources of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

This delicate balance is now in question: the city of The Dalles has proposed a major expansion of its urban growth boundary that push urban growth into sensitive Scenic Area lands. Other expansion proposals include Hood River and Lyle.
